    Abstract

    :

In our country most of the cities adopt underground drainage system and it is the duty of Municipal Corporation to maintain cleanliness of the cities. Blockages in these sewage lines are difficult to be cleaned or extracted automatically. In order to manage sewer blockage proactively sewer manager needs to identify the location of blockages precisely. Nowadays, only humans do this sully job of cleaning the sewages. This project aims at automating the sewer line cleaning without intervention of humans and also provides sewer line parameters monitoring system. By using sensor technology temperature, pressure, manhole lid condition (open/close) and level of sewer line are measured and the data are fed to the microcontroller (ATMEL 89C51). The prototype model also consists of relay switch and a dc motor to take immediate action of removing the blockages. With the help of microcontroller and GSM technology the control and monitoring of sewer line parameters and dc motor operation is achieved. Thus a cost effective automated sewer line cleaning and monitoring system is developed to eradicate manual scavenging and as an effective implementation of Prime Minister’s Swatch Bharath Movement.
